Economic pressures are forcing Americans to rethink retirement

Happy Friday!

The rising cost of living is forcing more Americans to rethink their retirement plans. Meanwhile, rising inflation means retirees are set to see a modest bump in their Social Security benefits for 2027.

We’re covering both of these trends in today’s Weekly Digest… and in case you missed them, here is a quick recap of what we published over the past few days: 👇

➡️ Last year, some of the most prominent names in AI warned that unemployment could spike to as high as 20%. However, there’s more to this prediction than the headlines suggest.

➡️ Nvidia (NVDA) saw nearly $170 billion wiped off its market cap last week due to a so-called “revenue miss.”

➡️ PayPal, in its early years, used a high-growth strategy to attain success. Today, this playbook continues to be used in different industries.

➡️ Financial advisors often face pressure to do more with less time, making it tempting to sacrifice sleep to keep up with demanding schedules. But working longer hours doesn’t always lead to better results.

Meanwhile, here are other pieces of news and information you might find interesting:

  • With inflation on the rise, retirees will see their Social Security benefits rise by 3.6% in 2027. This marks the highest cost-of-living adjustment since 2023.
  • In a survey commissioned by F&G Annuities & Life, it was found that 51% of American pre-retirees expect to retire later than they originally planned due to economic and financial pressures.

That’s all for today’s Weekly Digest. See you next week!
