When investor sentiment is too bullish, it increases the risk there will be a short-term sell-off. On the flip side, when investors are too bearish, it can cause a dead cat bounce. That bounceback is not an indication of the market reacting to good news or a sign of things turning. It is simply a symptom of everyone being so bearish… there is no one else left to sell.
